Quebec Travel Mini

I've posted snippets of this Montreal & Quebec City travel mini book over on Instagram, but I wanted to write up a blog entry as well now that it's completed. Some quick notes/thoughts before I share some of my favorite spreads in the album:

  • I used an old Studio Calico album I had purchased years ago. It's the 4-ring handbook format and I had to re-punch my page protectors to get them to fit, but I wanted to use this album for its wider spine. This trip wasn't too long but I thought the extra width/space would be useful since I had a lot of memorabilia (tickets, business cards, postcards etc) I wanted to include.
  • When making travel mini-books like this one, my focus is always on the stories, photos, and memorabilia. I don't really experiment with a lot of creative techniques because I want to highlight the photographs and keep the album fairly simple and clean.
  • I also included a lot of 3x8 inserts in this album! I really like how the 3x8 pages turned out and they were great for adding additional photos or a longer story.
  • Aside from my printables, I also used journal cards from Feed Your Craft (from this kit I designed) and Studio Calico (from my stash of past kits). The stamps & embellishments I used were all from my stash as well and I didn't buy anything specifically for this project.
  • Since this was a summer trip, I wanted my spreads to be bright and colorful. I thought the album I chose was quite fitting with the overall look of the mini-book as well :)

Here's a look at some of my favorite pages in my album.

My title page is a colorful postcard I picked up in Montreal. I glued it on a piece of patterned vellum and on the back, I have a matching postcard from Quebec City.

I started this album off with a little travel tag insert I made. I used the tag to jot down the reason for this trip and some little details. The YUL airport code was stamped with this Olver alpha from SC - definitely a favorite in my stash!

I'm really glad I brought my instax camera on this trip! The instax photos are a fun addition to this album.

The 3x8 Adventure cards were my favorite set to use in this album :)

There's something about the colors of this spread (all that mint!) that just makes me happy :) I chose the cards and embellishments to match the business card I picked up at that restaurant.

One of my favorite things we did on this trip was seek out some Korean drama filming locations in Quebec City. I wanted to add this story to my album and include some screenshots from the TV show, so it was the perfect opportunity to use one of my 3x8 Snapshots templates. I labelled the location for each screenshot.

Who can resist a cute moose-in-socks postcard? :)

Love that the camera card from the Feed Your Craft Moments Captured kit coordinated perfectly with my Bonjour printable cards.

Another favorite alpha of mine is this Aurora alpha stamp set. There are matching number stamps as well.

I added a paper bag (with a postcard adhered to the front of it) to the back of the album so I could include a couple more pieces of ephemera.

There's still a bit of space in my mini-book, but it's pretty full and I'm glad I decided to use an album with a wider spine! So happy to have another completed album on my bookshelf.

Thank you for looking! :) Have a great weekend.
