December Daily 2016 // Part I

I cannot believe there are only twelve days until Christmas! This season is flying by. Honestly, I wasn't quite feeling the holiday spirit last week. I had just come home from a trip and was dealing with jetlag, adjusting to everyday life again, and the stress of all that I need to do before the 25th. But the snowfall we got (the first of the season and in general, a rare occasion around here!) was just what I needed to pause, take in the magic, and embrace this time of the year. Christmastime is truly my favourite - I just needed a reminder to slow down and enjoy the moments as they come.

My December Daily album is off to a slow start but I'm happy to have started nonetheless. This is my 7th year doing this project! A couple of notes:
  • I'm doing a 6x8 pocket page format again this year. The only new scrapbook supplies I bought were the Paislee Press mini-kit and some of the Crate Paper Snow & Cocoa embellishments. I'm mainly using my extensive stash and my holiday printables.
  • Once again, I'm choosing not to do this project daily. This makes the most sense for me, especially since I didn't get home from my travels until the 4th. Instead, I'm focusing on documenting holiday/winter moments in my album. There may be some days without stories and some days with multiple stories, and that's totally okay. I'm also documenting a few stories from November since they are holiday related.
  • I still plan on finishing Project Life til the end of this year. The spreads for December will have a bit of holiday events as well as a hodgepodge of everyday life stuff that didn't make it in my December Daily.
  • Since I'm already behind in my book, I'm happy to be printing all my photos at home for ease and convenience. I know this will make it easier for me to catch up!

Title Page
After a lot of deliberation, I decided to go with simple for my album cover this year. The polar graph paper is an old Studio Calico patterned paper, circa 2012. I printed out a bokeh photo of our Christmas tree with my instax printer and added it to the middle of my page. I handstitched some of the lines around the photo to make it look like a starburst, then added small star sequins to the ends of the lines. Super simple but I love how it turned out.

When I was thinking about what I wanted to include for my intro pages this year, a marketing email from Artifact Uprising (in November) kept on coming back to me. The words in the email really resonated with me and were just what I wanted to focus on this season, so I decided to type them out on a 6x8 page and print it out.

The 6x8 page is a hybrid one - I added some Japanese washi tape that looks like a festive garland above the words. At the bottom of the page I stamped a bunch  of stars with Galaxy Gold brilliance ink.

On the right side, I used some printable cards (trees - Snowfall cards no.1, red card - Joyful cards no.1, asterisks - Snowfall cards no.2, merry card - Good Cheer cards no.1) and I jotted down my thoughts about this season.

Freebie! I know we're well into December but if any of you want to use the 6x8 page as a filler spread in your album, you can download it here. Personal use only please, especially since the words are not my own. Enjoy! :)

I'll be back with more December Daily pages soon! xo.
