Get Messy: Putting together a kit

Celine is leading an an amazing class called Get Messy over at Studio Calico, and it's filled with really fun techniques and ideas. Using those techniques, she made an awesome mini book that is chock full of inspiration! Registration ends at the end of this month, so make sure you sign up soon by purchasing the class here. You can also order the class kit she put together, which I'm sure will go fast tomorrow once reveal at SC comes around!

I've mentioned before that I'm honored to be a contributor to her class. I had a blast putting together my own mini-book and I learned a lot of new techniques along the way. Celine's class really encouraged me to play with my supplies! :)

You can purchase the class and the class kit together, or the class by itself and work with supplies from your stash. Since I'm the contributor working with my own stash, I thought I'd share my process a little. Here's what I originally pulled together:

I started out by picking a color scheme (blue, aqua, yellow, grey & a pop of pink) and then pulling things from my stash that were similar to the items in Celine's kit. You know the cardboard that comes with SC kits, to keep the papers from bending? I always save them for mini books, so I pulled that out and cut two 5x7" pieces for the front and back covers.

Here's a breakdown:

Patterned Paper - lots of Crate, Studio Calico, Echo Park, and Kesi Art. I also pulled out a selection of neutrals, mainly from SC's Classic Calico v.2 collection.

Vellum

Alphas - an assortment of mini market alphas from October Afternoon, and natural chipboard Anywhere thickers. I wanted natural chipboard alphas so that they can be altered to be whatever color I want

Kraft stickers - Celine had the SC kraft star stickers; I pulled out the SC butterfly stickers from my stash.

Flair - love me some flair :) I used Take Note flair

Shipping tags

Baker's Twine

Doilies (from Martha Stewart)

Washi tape - Celine's class kit had a roll of washi tape, but I ended up pulling out my whole box of washi tape to use while making my book, lol. Washi tape is always a staple for me, when it comes to mini books :)

Page tabs - Celine's class kit had a sheet of Echo Park element stickers, so I replaced that with some page tabs instead. Love these ones - from Ormolu and Evalicious.

Wood veneer - some asterisks, hearts and stars, and frames

Sequins - can't stop using them these days, lol.

Journaling spots - some Martha Stewart/Avery ones from Staples, this & this from Banana Fish Studio, Kesi Art labels, and some printables from my own shoppe.

Not pictured: my entire box of washi tape, lol, and I also used Banana Fish Studio's graphic chips.

Of course, I also used messy supplies including stamps, Mister Hueys, inks, gesso, etc. You can find a complete list of the 'messy' supplies needed on Celine's blog here

Last day to register is April 30. Class begins May 1! See you there :)
