I started with a 3x3" piece of white cardstock, which I misted heavily with Mister Huey's spray mists. I used Bonny Blue and Atmosphere, but I believe those colors have been discontinued (you can achieve the misted effect with similar Mister Huey's colors such as Navy and Ocean). Then I stamped the two birch trees with Versafine Onyx Black (my favorite black ink), and misted the cardstock again with Mister Huey's Calico Shine for some beautiful shimmer.
Then I took a 4.25x5.5" piece of white cardstock and created a circle negative in the middle of it. Behind this piece of cardstock, I adhered my misted cardstock with foam adhesive to frame the wintry scene.
I stamped the Winter Wonderland deer and cut them out using the coordinating Creative Cuts, then adhered them inside my circle with foam adhesive. The white outline around the stamped images really helps the deer to stand out and be a focal point on my card.
To finish off my card, I stamped a sentiment (also from Winter Wonderland), added a strip of silver washi tape, and tied some glitter baker's twine around the card. Since this is currently just a piece of cardstock and not yet a folded card, my final step was to glue it onto a standard size card base.
And that's it! Here is my completed card, all ready to be given away to a loved one. I can definitely see myself making several of these for the upcoming holiday season, and it's just so simple to cut out the deer now with the coordinating metal dies.
At this angle, I hope you can see the subtle metallic shimmer the wintry scene has because of Mister Huey's Calico Shine. It's so pretty in real life and Calico Shine is one of my favorite and most used mists. Perfect for adding an extra sparkly touch to projects!
Hope you enjoyed this card tutorial :) Thanks for visiting!
